SmartBrew aspires to make it easier than ever for restaurateurs to offer their thirsty patrons fresh, house-made beers. In the process, it could reignite the largely stagnant brewery-­restaurant business model that energized the first wave of the American craft beer revival in the 1990s.

The SmartBrew system recently made its first appearance in New England, indeed only its third in America, at upstart Greasy Luck Brewery, a 6-week-old pub and restaurant in New Bedford.
